Apples are a very underrated fruit. Despite their significance to the Christian population of the world, (see the Garden of Eden, Genesis, The Bible) apples are really taken for granted. It’s about time we saluted the humble apple.

We all associate apples with hot pie, pints of cider, granny smiths and packed lunches, but in truth, the apple finds its roots in Kazakhstan. Yes, the region of Alma-Aty in Kazakhstan translates to ‘father of apples’. Having made their way around the globe, apples have diversified and now over 7,500 varieties are grown all over the world. Wow.
